RISE AGAINST HUNGER

Rise Against Hunger is Zambrero's international distribution partner that directs our Plate 4 Plate meals to communities in need globally.

"Zambrero and Rise Against Hunger share a vision of a world without hunger, and together we’ve created an easy way for Zambrero customers to join us in our mission. Through the simple act of purchasing a Zambrero burrito or bowl, customers are helping us provide a nutritional meal that is life changing for those who receive it. The impact of this simple act is huge!"

WHY RISE AGAINST HUNGER?

Zambrero firmly believes in partnering with organizations with a shared belief that all people in this world should receive adequate nutrition and education. Specifically, Zambrero partners with Rise Against Hunger due to their commitment to distribute Plate 4 Plate donated meals to support school feeding programs within underserved and remote, last-mile communities.

Like Rise Against Hunger, Zambrero is passionate about breaking the poverty cycle, where receiving an education is typically the first step. The promise of a nutritious, hot meal provides parents a clear incentive to send their children to school each day and enables children to not only be well nourished, but to learn and develop key skills that they would otherwise miss out on if otherwise in search of food.

HOW DO THEY DETERMINE WHERE TO SEND MEALS?

Rise Against Hunger is growing a global movement to end hunger by nourishing lives, empowering communities and responding to emergencies. Targeting remote, last-mile communities within hunger pockets designated “serious” or higher by the Global Hunger Index, Rise Against Hunger works with local leaders to harness the strengths of their communities and tackle their own food and nutrition security challenges with agency, dignity and resilience.

Rise Against Hunger works with vetted in-country partners who meet strict qualification criteria to ensure distributed meals go only to those who need them and do not end up on the open market.

WHAT IS THE GLOBAL IMPACT?

As many as 783 million people around the world are facing hunger, while around 2.4 billion people are food insecure, meaning they do not have regular access to the nutritious food they need to live a healthy life. Almost 10% of the world's population, or one in every 10 people, is undernourished.

Rise Against Hunger works predominantly in remote, last-mile communities because food insecurity disproportionately affects people living in rural areas. More than 33% of adults living in rural areas globally faced food insecurity in 2022. Rise Against Hunger impacted over 3.6 million lives in 37 countries around the world during 2023 alone, and has distributed more than 600 million highly nutritious meals to date.
