Frequently asked questions

GENERAL

Who is Zambrero?

Zambrero is Feel Good Mex! A fresh, healthy quick-service Mexican restaurant franchise and a humanitarian enterprise committed to helping end world hunger.

PLATE 4 PLATE

How does the Plate 4 Plate initiative work?

The initiative is simple and one that makes a big impact. Every time a customer purchases a burrito or bowl at Zambrero, a meal is donated to someone in need in the developing world through our key distribution partner, Rise Against Hunger.

For more information, visit our Plate 4 Plate page.

What is Rise Against Hunger?

Zambrero has donated over 40 million meals for those in need worldwide since it was established in 2005.

Our goal is to donate a billion meals by 2025.

Visit our home page to find the most up to date number of Plate 4 Plate meals donated.

How do we keep count of the meals donated?

The Zambrero POS system is linked to every Zambrero restaurant in the United States and abroad, allowing us to accurately track the sales of all burritos and bowls. A real-time counter is made publicly available in all Zambrero restaurants as well as on our websites.

Why does Rise Against Hunger and Zambrero focus on school feeding programs?

Providing a meal during school gives parents, particularly in developing nations and poorer communities, an incentive to send their children to school. This helps ensure a child receives their primary school education, the first step in breaking the poverty cycle. Education is a major way to improve the quality of life in disadvantaged communities, whether it be in maternal health, childhood mortality, gender equality or combating HIV/AIDS.

How does Rise Against Hunger determine where to deliver meals?

Rise Against Hunger works with in-country partners who submit food requests for assessment based on the following criteria: need, type of distribution program, size of program, sustainability of program, accountability, resources to pay for shipping and manage customs process, capacity to securely store donated meals, and ability to maintain control of the donated food from receipt to distribution. Partner organizations agree not to barter or sell the donated meals, which keeps the Rise Against Hunger food out of the general market.

Yes! Our Little Heroes Kids Range has been tried, tested and given the thumbs up from kids right around America. Served as smaller portions of some of our bigger favorites; bowls, nachos and quesadillas.
